The Academy of Functional Medicine Reaches Next Level of Educational Offerings

Feb. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- The Academy of Functional Medicine, Dentistry & Psychology who seeks to educate consumers and healthcare professionals on the revolutionary advances in functional medicine and genomics is now offering an all-inclusive array of course offerings.  Well known for its comprehensive, 72-week program, the Academy is now offering an "Introductory Mini-course" as well as a "Master Clinician Certification".

These two new programs have transpired because the Academy fully realizes that while modern medicine has made astonishing advances in the treatment of acute healthcare problems, healthcare consumers are increasingly suffering from chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, addictions, depression, heart disease and auto immune disorders.  These consumers and healthcare practitioners alike are increasingly searching for a deeper understanding of the root causes of these disorders and their potential curative treatments.

The Introductory Mini-course is intended for both healthcare practitioners and non-medical consumers.  This on-line course provides an introduction to a new, investigative way of thinking about medical and psychiatric disorders.  The structure also allows students to choose and delve into one of five tracks that include addictions, cancer, autoimmune disorders, endocrinology and childhood spectrum disorders.  This basic level course may also serve as a precursor to the Academy’s 72-week "core" program.

The Master Clinician Certification program is also now available for any current or past member of the Academy, as well as any practitioner who has completed a functional medicine program that includes completion of a genomics module course offering.  Succinctly, a test will be administered that consists of an oral examination with the Academy’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. CE Gant, MD, PhD, on two cases of the practitioner’s choosing from their clinical work and three cases provided to the practitioner by the Academy.
