UK Energy Saving ‘Takes a Step’ for Fairtrade Fortnight

Feb. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- The 27th February 2012 sees the start of the annual Fairtrade Fornight from the UK’s Fairtrade Foundation.  Consumer website http://www.uk-energy-saving.com is a strong supporter of Fairtrade and this year has been promoting the Fairtrade Foundation and the Take a Step Fairtrade Fortnight on its Energy Watch page throughout February.  

The UK Energy Saving Energy Watch page features company and event profiles on a monthly basis, and the UK Energy Saving team felt that Fairtrade Fortnight was definitely worth including.  Hayley Jones, Web Marketing Director at http://www.uk-energy-saving.com explains further.  “Unfortunately we can’t possibly cover all energy saving and ethical companies and events on our Energy Watch page, but we felt that the work of the Fairtrade Foundation and their Fairtrade Fortnight campaign was one not to be missed out.  The Fairtrade Foundation do an amazing job of promoting Fairtrade in the UK, playing a large part in the steady rise in sales of an ever-increasing range of fabulous Fairtrade products.  If we can support them by ‘taking a step’ in this small way, we are very happy to do so!”  

This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight ‘Take a Step’ campaign is asking individuals, groups and businesses to take a step to support Fairtrade, whether it be buying a new Fairtrade grocery item or moving towards using only Fairtrade refreshments in the workplace.  These small steps can add up to a big impact on the Fairtrade market, and the campaign also helps raise awareness of the importance of Fairtrade certification.  Millions of people in developing countries have benefitted directly and indirectly from the fair prices paid for Fairtrade produce, and buying Fairtrade products offers continuing support to the Fairtrade movement.
