Recently there's been a new method called "Cold fusion". This method uses a keratin-based polymer to attach the extensions to the root of your hair. This method is more gentle on your hair and the use of a hot glue gun is no longer required.
Pre-tipped hair extensions are marketed with a small amount of glue already attached to one end of the extensions. You then attach the extensions with the help of a special applicator.
Ring X. If you're looking for a fairly modern technique, there's Ring X. Small metallic rings have been placed at one end of the hair extensions. To fasten the rings to your hair, you need to use of a special tool.
Keep in mind that the clip-on technique is something that you can do by yourself without risking any damage done to your hair or your hair extensions. Clip-on extensions are also easier to care for. For the rest of the methods though, it's best that you leave the job to a professional hairdresser.
