About Irene Slochowski

Irene Slochowski Nothmann was born in Lima, Peru on October 17, 1955. The second child of a strong, tight-knit family, she was born like every baby in tears, but lived her life in laughter until the age of 47, when her ever-present smile was replaced with tears of sadness.
From the deepest, darkest hole of the most devastating of experiences, Irene was able to extract from within the strength and resolve that allowed her to transform her life into a model of perseverance in the face of adversity.
A courageous, self-educated woman, Irene turns to her Jewish roots and traditions for answers to what is often incomprehensible, while at the same time drawing from her innermost self the courage to change even the most seemingly difficult situation.
With an open heart, the author candidly shares her struggle to help her daughter, Joanna, on her journey to rebuild her life.
