The Lower Makefield Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) aims to educate, inform, and increase the quality of life for the people who live in the Yardley-Makefield area. In addition to organizing environmentally-
focused educational events and speaker series, the EAC works on new regulations regarding qimau the use of native plants at township facilities and for development of buffer zones and stream bank restoration. They also advise on green building initiatives and energy conservation policies for township buildings. The council also awards an environmental stewardship award each year to a group or individual who has made a significant contribution to environmental awareness.
