Feb. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- S199 and H527 were introduced this year.  They are tricky, since Federal law (National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986) gave shield to pharmaceutical companies from liability due to injury from vaccines.  That same law states that patients must be given Vaccine Information Statements (find one here: before consenting to the administration of a childhood vaccination. Today, Vermont parents are supposed to read through the provided information and ask a lot of questions before they decide to vaccinate their children.  If they decide not to, it is up to them.

Despite giving parents this choice, vaccination rates in Vermont, when measured against the state's required immunization schedule for school are well above the CDC's goal of 90%.  The exception is chicken pox (varicella) vaccine), which carries with it increased rates of seizures.  Read the full report from the Vermont Dept. of Health here:

Nicole and Justin Matten wish they had been told more about the risks.  They say that their decision to vaccinate may have been different.   See them and hear what they have to say.  Visit:

It is important for all Vermonters to know that the S199 and H527 bill set a dangerous percent of state control over parental rights that we should all be concerned about.  Help us set the record straight.  If you wish to know more about the Vermont Coalition for Vaccine Choice, visit or visit us on facebook
