Feb. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- (Center Moriches, NY) — On March 4, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. All proceeds from the event will benefit the scholarship fund in Ronnie Reisig’s name and other avenues of support at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck as decided by the Reisig family. The scholarship will help send a special-needs child or young adult to the camp for the summer and aid in Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s mission of providing an educational and recreational summertime experience.

The scholarship is named after Ms. Reisig, who worked with autistic children at BOCES in Westhampton Beach. She passed away on June 22, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Before her death, she requested that at least one of her students would have the opportunity to attend Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $5 for children under 10. To purchase tickets in advance, call Karen at (516) 248-0886. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck challenges children and young adults with disabilities to reach beyond their physical and developmental challenges and experience all that life has to offer. Throughout the program, campers participate in typical summer camp activities, such as arts and crafts, talent shows, cook-outs, swimming and boating.

Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck was created by members of the Moriches Rotary Club in 1946. Located on the shores of Kaler's Pond on eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is funded entirely by donations and is a special place where children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities can experience first hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer. Children participate in a wide range of activities especially designed for youngsters who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulatory. These activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, petting zoo, talent shows, cook-outs, games and a Carnival Day. The program also provides educational activities in areas such as nature, arts, fire safety and communication skills.
