Dr. Cohen, a specialist in hair restoration as well as sun damage, skin cancer, and surgery of the skin has maintained a practice in the Miami area, while serving pro bono at the teaching facility of the University of Miami, School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology. Currently, Cohen is the Clinical Professor-Voluntary Faculty of the department, previously served as the Director of Surgical Training, and has received multiple awards for his dedicated service.

Certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Dermatology,  Dr. Cohen has written numerous medical textbook chapters, authored over 20 scientific articles, and commentaries in the medical and surgical literature, and has lectured to more than 25 different medical and surgical societies throughout the world. He has been awarded 3 US and 12 international patents for medical devices he invented.

Since 2000, Woodward and White’s “Best Doctors in America” and Castle Connolly’s “America’s Top Doctors” have listed him annually. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, an active member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) – and in 2010 was awarded the “Platinum Follicle” for outstanding achievement in hair science and research, the society’s highest honor.

Dr. Cohen’s most significant contribution thus far has been a new technology called Cross Section Trichometry (CST). CST has received critical acclaim in human hair research, and has been adapted for use in the medical community at large. Dr. Cohen is co-director of a laboratory that performs effectiveness studies on hair growth drugs and devices submitted for approval to the FDA.
