Feb. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Squiz has been officially confirmed for the G-Cloud, the UK Government's new framework of approved suppliers of cloud services for the public sector. Launched yesterday, the G-Cloud's online catalogue - CloudStore - includes a diverse range of over 1700 IT services from almost 300 suppliers.

The G-Cloud aims to promote a more flexible, open and competitive marketplace and encourage the use of innovative IT services to improve performance and increase efficiencies throughout the public sector. Government departments will be able to easily procure from approved suppliers, opening up the market to more innovative and agile services provided by small and medium sized enterprises, such as Squiz.

Founded in 1998, Squiz originally developed its products and services to meet the specific requirements of the Australia Government. The company has since grown to serve a wide range of global markets and industry sectors but retains a particular strength in government. Current clients in the UK include the Ministry of Justice, the Land Registry and the Electoral Commission.

Squiz delivers web solutions built on the Squiz Suite, its open source web experience management platform, which incorporates content management, analytics, search and integration tools. The Suite is particularly suitable for government departments as it offers:

User-friendly interfaces suitable for a broad range of skill levels.
Powerful integration tools, based on open standards, to simplify processes.
Scalability and flexibility to respond to changing requirements.
Advanced security, workflow and governance tools.
Complete budgetary control as it is open source and not subject to license fees.

Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, said: "G-Cloud is a sign of public sector IT becoming more flexible, modern and better value. The easiest way to think of cloud is as the IT equivalent of a Boris bike - pay for what you need when you need it, and forget about costly ongoing maintenance that you can live without."

Stephen Morgan, Director of Squiz UK, said; "It's great to see the UK Government taking decisive steps to open up the market to SMEs and enable its departments to take advantage of the latest technologies. We're looking forward to bringing innovative web experience management solutions to more government departments."
