WellCare Teams Up with Habitat for Humanity to Help Build Lives and Hope in Hillsborough County

Feb. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, Florida (February 20, 2012) – WellCare Health Plans Inc.  joined the Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County organization on Saturday, February 18 to paint, assemble cabinets, frame roof trusses and install windows on two new homes for deserving families. This is the fifth year that WellCare has participated in the Habitat Hillsborough Corporate Day sponsorship program.

“We value the opportunity to give back to our community through the partnership offered by Habitat for Humanity,” said Alec Cunningham, WellCare’s chief executive officer. “We are committed to working with those who help improve and enrich the lives of underserved populations, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Habitat for Humanity.”

Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County Florida, Inc. is a volunteer nonprofit, faith-based organization dedicated to providing decent, affordable housing in partnership with the community and families of Hillsborough County. Its ultimate goal is to eliminate poverty and homelessness from Hillsborough County by providing a hand up and not a hand out. Habitat homes are sold at no profit with a no-interest mortgage. In return, homebuyers must donate 300 "Sweat Equity" hours, be able to assist with closing costs and make monthly mortgage payments.
