Feb. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Common Sense Films announces their next exciting documentary: “Raggedy,” which explores the untold origin of one of our nation’s most beloved dolls, Raggedy Ann, and the tragic life of her creator, Johnny Gruelle. The documentary opens in 2009 as hundreds of fans descended upon a small midwestern town to experience the closing of the Raggedy Ann and Andy museum. There they recanted stories of how the little rag doll forever shaped their lives as well as the influential legacy of Gruelle.

The documentary features interviews with life-long fans and collectors such as Akiko Miyamoto and others as they experience their final meeting at the Raggedy Ann and Andy Museum.  In addition, Gruelle’s granddaughter Joni Gruelle and her husband, Tom, share intimate details about the life of Johnny and the origin of Raggedy Ann.

The filmmaking team is using IndieGoGo (http://www.indiegogo.com/raggedy) as a platform to help raise money to finish the production and add narration to “Raggedy.” Help us preserve the legacy of Raggedy Ann with footage of the closing of the museum as well as rare photos from Johnny’s life. This is a must-see for fans of the dolls and will maintain the history of Raggedy Ann and Andy.

Common Sense Films, headed by Richard Sirianni and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Rob Hill, are hoping to complete the project in 2012 in order to share it with Raggedy fans from around the world as well as others interested in the creation of a cultural icon.
