2012 IDEC Annual Conference includes pre-conference workshops for interior design educators

Six pre-conference programs have been planned for the 2012 IDEC Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. The pre-conference programs are offered on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the conference host hotel, the Hyatt Regency on the Inner Harbor.

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- The Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) is committed to advancing interior design education which includes education for those that teach. Six pre-conference programs have been planned for the 2012 Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. The pre-conference programs are offered on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the conference host hotel, the Hyatt Regency on the Inner Harbor. All courses have been approved for CEU credit.

IDEC Annual Conference is open to everyone in the interior design industry including educators and students at design schools, colleges and universities; interior design practitioners; industry partners; and publishers.  Non-members are welcome to attend. Pre-conference workshops are open to everyone, not just conference attendees. If you are in the Baltimore area, consider joining us for a day of education. Advancing Design Scholarship through Review Practices  
Monday, March 19, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  
Panelist: Joy Dohr, Paul Eshelman, Meg Konkel, Douglas R. Seidler
Reviews of abstracts, proposals and articles play a critical part in Interior Design scholarship in general and one's academic career specifically. Participants will gain understanding of reviewers' role and reviews contributions.

Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Workshop
Monday, March 19, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
CIDA's Accreditation Workshop provides faculty members and administrators from programs interested in seeking accreditation and currently accredited programs with helpful insight and guidance. Registration for this workshop closes February 23, 2012.

Web-based Communication and Presentation Tools for Designers
Monday, March 19, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This workshop will introduce web-based technology applications, mostly available free of charge, that support communication within interior design education.

Written Concept Statement Development Methodology for Interior Design Educators
Monday, March 19, 1:00 pm. - 4:00 p.m.
Presented by Jun Zou, Vincent Cellucci, and TL Ritchie, Louisiana State University
In the interior design discipline, concept statements are highly recognized for their role as a road map to direct the design process. This workshop introduces the written concept statement development process, "3 Elements Methodology," used at Louisiana State University.

Google SketchUp Pro for Educators
Monday, March 19, 1:00 pm. - 5:00 p.m.
Presented by Douglas R. Seidler, Marymount University
Google SketchUp Pro is an intuitive three-dimensional modeling program that helps design students explore and visualize three-dimensional responses to design problems presented in studio. This workshop will help educators develop a basic understanding of SketchUp and how you (and your students) can effectively use this software to digitally model / design space.

Journal of Interior Design Writers Workshop: Impact and Interpretations
Monday, March 19, 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Joy Dohr, Moderator, JID Editorial Team - Margaret Portillo, Editor in Chief, and Associate Editors: Bridget May and Janetta McCoy
The intent of this year's workshop is to share some new directions for the Journal, reinforce fundamental tenets of academic publishing and then focus on effective ways of interpreting findings and forming conclusions.
