Speakers Talk Life Extension, Safety at Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference

Electrical industry pioneers will discuss the latest in arc flash and electrical safety, switchgear life extension, and much more at the Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition, May 5-7, 2012, in Pittsburgh.

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- AURORA, CO – Attendees of the 15th annual PEARL Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition can look forward to an unprecedented lineup of industry speakers from the fields of arc flash and electrical safety, sustainability and equipment life extension, reconditioning standards and technician certification, and much more between May 5-7, 2012, at Pittsburgh’s Sheraton Station Square Hotel.

This year’s speaker lineup includes electrical shock and arc flash protection pioneer H. Landis “Lanny” Floyd of DuPont, who will deliver the keynote address on the state of electrical safety in the U.S. and the hidden costs of electrical reliability in dollars, employee injuries, and related costs.

Other prominent speakers include Nigel McQuin, Senior Member of IEEE and Europe’s CIGRE and IET organizations, who will deliver two presentations. The first presentation will focus on do’s and don’ts for circuit breaker conversions and switchgear life extensions, followed by another presentation on his contributions to the Ohio State University design team that created the world’s fastest electric car, the Buckeye Bullet II. The Bullet is the current U.S. record holder for fastest electric car at more than 314 mph.

William Gager, founder of the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association, will present “Remanufacturing: The Ultimate in Recycling,” where he discusses legislative and regulatory challenges facing the industry, tips for working with the government and academic community, and what the future holds for remanufacturers.

Electrical reconditioning standards are the heart of PEARL and will again take the stage at this year’s conference. Stuart Jackson of Instel Power Products, Inc. (Simpsonville, SC) will discuss PEARL’s ongoing efforts to achive ANSI accreditation for reconditioning standards, while David Rosenfield, President of ROMAC (Commerce, CA) will offer a status update of a new PEARL reconditioning standard on motor control solid-state drives.

Other presentations include “4th & Goal – The Good & Bad Calls of Coaching and Leadership” by Megan Burns of Operations Strategy Consulting; Hot Topics in a Cold Economy by Alan M. Mirman, Mirman, Bubman & Nahmias, LLP; and Michael D. Wright’s presentation on electrical safety and NFPA 70E.

Concurrent with the two days of technical presentations, PEARL will host a dual-track training course developed for electrical reconditioning shop technicians that focuses on low-voltage circuit breakers and medium-voltage contactors, respectively. Interested attendees and exhibitors should contact the PEARL office at (877) 287-3275, send an email to pearl@pearl1.org, or visit http://www.Pearl1.org. Corporations that join PEARL within 30 days of the end of the conference will have up to 100% of their conference registration fee applied towards their first year's PEARL membership.
