Zeus Global and Coventry City Star Back Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research

Feb. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Though there is definitely some rivalry at Zeus Global between the Coventry City and Nottingham Forest fans they are all happy to unite to recommend a fantastic cause that is being supported by Carl Baker and Geoff Thomas. The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research charity is vital in providing research into the biggest cause of cancer deaths among 18 to 35 year olds. Nearby Birmingham hospitals are part of a UK-wide network that are helping to speed up the development of new drugs for blood cancers called the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP).

Both players have a personal reason why the cause is so close to their hearts. Baker lost his elder brother Mike to the disease and his younger brother is currently in remission. Geoff Thomas was himself struck down by the disease until he was given a life-saving stem cell transplant from his sister back in 2004.

Zeus Global understands that the charity is the only one in the UK solely dedicated to research into blood cancers.  According to the charity’s website their research is focused on 'finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running groundbreaking clinical trials for all blood cancer patients.'

A spokesperson for Zeus Global said that the whole company was delighted that local boys were using their public status to improve vital research in the West Midlands. “The match on Saturday between Coventry City and Nottingham Forest is bound to be an exciting game. We hope that fans will be encouraged by their sporting heroes to donate a small amount to such a worthwhile cause."
