Bad College Credit for College Student

Going to college has been the American dream for most people, some of them have the advantage of college being paid for before they are out of the womb.  The majority of Americans that do go to college have the option of taking out some form of financial aid.
College loans are very easy to get, and are very helpful to people who need extra cash to make ends meet in college.  College loans must be paid back after graduating college, there is no way around it.  While in college credit card companies set up shop on campus and market their credit cards to college student aggressively with free gifts and many other incentives to apply for a credit card.  Having a credit card in college may be useful in emergency situations, I don’t recommend getting them if you don’t have to.  I recently seen a commercial on TV were a college kid was using her credit card to order pizza for dorm parties, even though the chances of this happening was probably exaggerated, I wouldn’t rule it out 100%.

Many parents are choosing to give their kids special checking accounts for college student were they can add money to the child’s debit card when needed.  This method works best in keeping track of college finances, and can also help questions charges for Kegs bought at the liquor store.  Most colleges don’t talk about the importance of credit and how it affects your financial future, I guess they figured that’s the parent’s job, and should have been discussed with the birds and bees before they sent them of to higher education.  Many college students are going away to school with parents who are just as knowledgeable about credit as their child, their not as privileged to come from homes with parents that are financially savvy enough to give them a debit card with a few thousands dollars in the bank account.  Hopefully these kids are majoring in finance and not art history.
