Monkey Business with Gorillaz and Converse

One-off collaboration between cartoon pop rockers Gorillaz and Converse

Feb. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- THERE’S some monkey business this month with a one-off collaboration between an iconic brand and an iconic band.

To celebrate a decade in the music business animated pop rockers Gorillaz have collaborated with Converse to produce a new range of product based on the original basketball shoe, available from 14 February.

And the collaboration is completed with the release of three, free, new music tracks via the Converse website on 23 February.

Shoe styles - designed by Gorillaz co-creator and award-winning designer Jamie Hewlett - combine the band’s image and exclusive prints with Converse’s iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette.

The collaboration features four different looks inspired by the band, including a signature military inspired camouflage print taken from the cover of Gorillaz debut album. Other styles feature sketches of the band in a range of colours and styles.

Basketball Hi Shoes retail at £49.99 with Ox Shoes selling for £46.99. All product contains a Gorillaz heel tab and hangtag with additional details on the product.

Shoes are made from a durable canvas upper with rubber sole. Styles are available to pre-order now and on sale from 14 February.

To complete the collaboration, Converse release Converse: Three Artists, One Song on 23 February.

Tracks feature James Murphy, of LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz and Andre 3000, of OutKast, performing  one song - DoYaThing.

Russel Hobbs, Gorillaz drummer, said: “To converse: the exchange of thoughts, feelings or ideas. That’s what Gorillaz are all about, working and collaborating and exchanging ideas with other artists and global communicators.

“We’ve been trading in ideas and conversing with one another for ten whole years. So I couldn’t think of a better bunch of people to help celebrate our decade in the business than the good people over at the Converse shoe company.  Plus I’ve been wearing my Chuck Taylor’s since forever.”

Murdoc Niccals added: "As Russel says, we're happy to help sell their soles."

The collaboration celebrates the 10th anniversary of the release of the Gorillaz’  self-titled debut album.
The band has sold more than 15 million records worldwide to date including a greatest hits’ set last year.
