Feb. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA — The Homeopathy Institute of the Pacific, or HIP for short (, a new non-profit organization in San Francisco, is stepping up to the front lines of public health by using homeopathy to treat traditionally under-served populations like veterans and the homeless.  Homeopathy is a low-cost holistic form of medicine in widespread use outside the United States and gaining popularity domestically.

“For the past six years, a group of homeopaths has been volunteering at the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, successfully treating homeless individuals, many of whom are veterans, suffering from Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD) and other disorders,” says Renita Herrmann, Executive Director of the newly-formed HIP.

“With HIP, we’re taking it to the next level.  We’re applying for grants and asking for donations to establish homeopathic clinics to treat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan because we have seen such excellent results for PTSD within this group,” says Ms. Herrmann.

Like the Mission Neighborhood clinic, HIP will also focus its efforts on homeless populations because the two groups are intertwined and bear many similarities, both in symptoms and treatment needs.  As HIP expands, it plans to establish clinics for other under-served populations including minorities, single parents and the uninsured.  Social service agencies and non-profits interested in partnering with HIP to provide homeopathic services to their clients are invited to contact the organization through their website or at: 415-494-9447.

The Homeopathy Institute of the Pacific is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving health through the advancement of homeopathy.  HIP evolved in 2011 out of the former Pacific Academy of Homeopathy, which was established in 1990 as a school for training classical homeopaths and graduated its last class in 2010.  HIP’s mission is to expand the use of homeopathy through public information campaigns, continuing education for homeopaths, furthering research in homeopathy, and establishing public homeopathic clinics.

HIP invites you to visit their website at to subscribe to their mailing list, or make a tax-deductible donation to support their efforts to provide safe and effective homeopathic treatment for returning veterans and the homeless.
