Green Business Practice Group Leader Joins Select Group of East Bay Influential Corporate Heads in Overseeing  Donation Funds for East Bay Regional Parks District

OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 9, 2012 – Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP Partner William C. Acevedo has been appointed vice president of the Regional Parks Foundation (www.regionalparksfoundation.org) Board of Directors for 2012. He originally joined the governing board as a member in 2008.

The Regional Parks Foundation was established in 1969 to encourage private contributions in support of the East Bay Regional Park District. The Foundation’s mission is to support the East Bay Regional Parks District through fundraising that provides broader public access, resource protection and preservation, education and recreational programs, and the acquisition of parklands. The Foundation, currently governed by a 15-member Board of Directors comprised of corporate leaders from throughout the East Bay, has received donations, land and in-kind services valued at more than $35 million since its inception.

At Wendel Rosen, Acevedo heads the firm’s Green Business Practice Group. He advises business clients on various issues related to green/sustainability and assists them with entity formation, general advice, contract negotiation and drafting, and trademark and licensing . He has an active litigation practice representing clients on a variety of matters, including contractual disputes, environmental contamination claims, product liability, toxic tort, and personal injury claims. His diverse client base includes corporate entities, property development and management entities, media companies, and public agencies.

In addition to his involvement with the Regional Parks Foundation, Acevedo is a member of the Bay Area Quality Management District’s Spare the Air Leadership Committee and has served as a director of the nonprofit organization Healthy Child Healthy World. He recently completed a five-year term as commissioner of the City of Richmond’s Economic Development Commission and currently sits on the City’s General Plan Advisory Committee, a role in which he has successfully advocated for the inclusion of various green initiatives.

Acevedo also co-hosts The Wendel Forum, a weekly radio program addressing legal issues in the green economy and is a frequent speaker and author on environmental topics. He received his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1997) and his B.A. from Rutgers College (1994).
