5 HCI Girls Return From ‘Hope 4 Girls’ in Nigeria

In November of 2011 HCI received an invitation from Hope 4 Girls Africa to participate in a National Camp in Lagos Nigeria. Hope for girls is NGO that focuses on empowerment of disadvantaged African girls through sports, using education.

“Five Hoops Care International participants have returned from Nigeria where they attended the 4th annual ‘Hope 4 Girls’ National Basketball Camp.

Joana Dansoah, St. Monica’s Girls JHS
Ajata Iddrisu, Aggrey Memory Zion Secondary School
Matilda Gordon, Aggrey Memory Zion Secondary School
and Nana Ama Quansah, Ola Boarding, received special invitations to participate in the event.  Hope 4 Girls is an internationally recognized NGO that is dedicated to the increased participation and empowerment of disadvantaged young African girls in sports, using education as the vehicle to deliver its message. The Hoops Care International girls participated in trainings, and learned new drills in addition to learning about the prevention of STIs, abuse, and hygiene.  At the end of the camp the girls took part in an all-star match.  One of the Hoops Care International participants, Matilda Gordon, received a scholarship to attend high school in the United States.”
