Michael Keister and the Caring House Project Foundation
Most people know Michael Keister as a serial entrepreneur, businessman and pilot. What people may not know about him, however, is that he is also a true philanthropist.
When Keister learned of the Caring House Project Foundation’s Program of Work, he knew he had to join its forces. This effort, which was created by legendary philanthropist and businessman, Frank McKinney, serves to provide shelter to those who are homeless in Haiti, in addition to doing much good for the desperately poor here in the U.S. The initiative has met with amazing support from people like Keister, who have assisted in building a number of houses, to include:
• 50 large houses for up to 400 family members in Terre Rouge
• 50 houses for up to 200 family members in Paroty
• 25 houses for up to 200 family members in Rond Rouge Torbek
• 10 double homes for up to 80 family members in Makandal
Keister himself provided enough funds to build one complete home, supplying refuge to eight Haitians. In addition, he sponsored emergency travel assistance memberships and provided carbon offsets for the 2009 “Tour of the Extremes,” held by the Caring House Project Foundation.
