Catering Equipment Supplier Achieves Success on Plumbing Scheme

Feb. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Advantage Catering Supplies and Equipment has revealed that two of its engineers have recently become certified on the Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme (WIAPS).
Advantage is keen to stay ahead of the game when it comes to customer confidence and having professionally approved engineers is an important part of that. With so many rogue traders and cowboy builders around, Advantage is striving to ensure that their customers know that they are safe, reliable and legitimate.
At the annual Catering Equipment Distributors Association conference in October 2011 a great emphasis was put on the training of engineers, staff and customers as a way of raising standards in the industry and educating customers in the standards they should be expecting from their providers.

The Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme itself was set up in response to changes in the regulations governing the installation of water systems and as part of the government’s on-going campaign against ‘cowboy builders’.
As well as demonstrating that the plumber is suitably qualified there are other advantages to being certified on the scheme such as being able to undertake  certain types of work without having to give prior notice to the water supplier. This is something a plumber cannot do under current regulations if they are not approved.
It is also important that engineers have these skills as the responsibility for the correct installation of a system is increasingly shifting from the manufacturer to the fitter.
