Whilst the beauty and culture of Bath attracts some of the UK’s very brightest minds to study in its excellent University, these students often move on elsewhere in the quest for the best possible start to their fledgling careers.   Many of the UK’s graduate career programmes are with large organisations located in and around London, with relatively few opportunities available for graduate development in Bath itself.  Fast growing, Bath based business consultancy, Nine Feet Tall is about to change that.

Nine Feet Tall has this week launched a new graduate development programme offering Bath University graduates the opportunity to remain in the city once their degree course has finished.  This new programme, NineStart, has been developed following consultation with the Bath University Careers Service and will provide a solid foundation to a career as a Business Consultant.

Huw Jones, who will oversee this graduate recruitment for Nine Feet Tall, explains “For graduates, an awful lot depends on that all-important first position.  It sets the scene for everything that follows.  They often seek graduate development opportunities with the UK’s largest firms which has previously meant leaving our city”

The introduction of NineStart changes that. Huw continued, “NineStart has been developed to offer an innovative two year training programme that will include at least 40 days of tailored formal training, as well as offering at least 200 days of hands-on client experience; working with our prestigious blue chip and regional clients on a range of complex change projects”

This will not be the first time Nine Feet Tall has recruited graduates from Bath.  Aileen Davis, who has been with the company since 2011 having joined directly from Bath University following completion of her Master’s degree in Business with Marketing said, “There is a widespread expectation that you need to go to London to acquire the right experience.  It’s been great to buck the trend and be able to work from Bath.  Nine Feet Tall has given me rapid exposure to the in-house expertise and the calibre of clients you would expect from a one of the big-5 management consultancies”.
