NOT ALONE Runners Race To Raise Awareness Of NOT ALONE's Active & Veteran Suicide Prevention Program
NOT ALONE runners will race to raise awareness of NOT ALONE's active duty and veteran suicide awareness & prevention programs and also promote their dedicated programs of treatment for combat related post tramatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Coming home from war is often just the start of the battle for our military veterans and their families. There are as many as 18 suicides per day among all U.S. veterans, and a veteran is 12 times more likely to die by his or her own hand after leaving the military than to be killed in action by an enemy combatant while on active duty. In addition, estimates show more than 300,000 veterans are suffering from PTSD, and 75% of these men and women will not receive adequate treatment. Combined with their parents, significant others and children, 1.5 million Americans are deeply affected by the aftermath of war.
