Super Season Scores $1,000 for NFL Charity
Fantasy Football Starters announces the winner of its free fantasy football contest, which pits players vs. experts in a weekly matchup. Play It Smart, an NFL charity, has received a $1,000 donation on behalf of Grand Prize winner Glenn Moore.
Feb. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Phoenix, Arizona — After a tight, see-saw battle with its largest-ever competitive pool, Fantasy Football Starters announced today that has sent $1,000 to Play It Smart, an NFL-sponsored charity that teams student-athletes with an academic coach to strengthen classroom skills and build leadership qualities. The donation is being made on behalf of Glen Moore, the winner of the FFS 2011-12 Weekly Lineup Challenge. Moore, beat more than 3,000 other weekly players — including Fantasy Football Starters' own experts — for the honor.
The Fantasy Football Starters.com weekly lineup contest allowed participants to select one roster each week of the NFL regular season. Players competed against each other and against one of the staff at Fantasy Football Starters.com, including nationally known radio host and NFL analyst, Russ Bliss, co-founders Dana Valentine and Simon Chatfield, as well as company CEO Jeff Coruccini. Glenn's entry, "TBA" won the contest with 3,692.7 total points. Contestants also received bonus points for social media activities like participating in the forums by posting and responding to other user questions.
"It's been a blast," says Glenn, who has been playing fantasy football for about 10 years. "It's great to compete against people from around the country."
In addition to the $1,000 donation to Play It Smart in his name, Glenn also will receive a lifetime membership to Fantasy Football Starters.com, as well as a trophy and permanent placement on the FFS Wall of Fame.
"I started playing fantasy football in 2000, and for the first five to six years I never even made the playoffs. I just had no clue what I was doing," says Glenn. "The first year I found Fantasy Football Starters, I made the playoffs. The second year, I was the champ in one of my leagues. The next year, I won the championship in all three leagues I played in. FFS is just the best -- I don't subscribe to any other fantasy service."
“Sunday's Super Bowl will determine the Champion of the National Football League, but our growing online community — and the kids who benefit through Play It Smart — are the big winners as far as I'm concerned,” said the company’s CEO, Jeff Coruccini. “We’re just grateful that thousands of members played in our contest last year, and we’re honored to support such a worthwhile charity.”
