Feb. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Colorado Springs, CO —
Cognitive First (Cog1st), the nation’s nonprofit pioneer in universal access to reading and learning skill testing and training, announces a sponsorship association with HomeSchool Buyers Co-op (HSBC). During the month of February Cog1st is donating a PASS Assessment and the CogRead Sound Analysis exercise to children in the HSBC membership of homeschool families. With these online tools parents can give their children a reading and learning advantage.

A ten minute evaluation at home will give parents a report of the auditory processing (phonemic awareness) strengths and weaknesses of their child. In only ten minutes a day within three to eight weeks a child can build strong skills.

Several independent studies have shown that most, 80% or more, of struggling readers have weak phonemic awareness skills as the primary cause of their reading difficulties. Studies have also proven that most reading difficulties can be prevented http://cog1st.org/wordpress/torgesens-findings/ or resolved through intensive one-on-one training of phonemic awareness skills combined with adequate reading instruction.

Strong phonemic awareness skills are the cornerstone of reading proficiency and the foundation on which subsequent learning depends.

This offer gives homeschool parents the ability to make sure their child can meet the critical Phonemic Awareness Skill Set (PASS) Standard in order to read proficiently and thrive as a student. Cog1st has expanded the offer by arranging for HSBC members to have the option http://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/deals-of-month/?a=co... for 20%-50% discounts on additional brain skill analysis and development programs.

Cognitive Fist is committed to giving children the core reading and learning elements  http://cog1st.org/wordpress/training-vs-teaching/ needed to help them reach their full potential. We are glad to make this offer available to the 75,000+ members of HSBC.

More information about the possibility of sponsored programs for children in your organization or community is available at the Cog1st.org website.
