Senator Joe Lieberman and Josephine Cooper to Receive Honors at the 31st Annual Bryce Harlow Awards

The lobbying and government relations community will gather for an evening of camaraderie to honor the recipient of the Bryce Harlow Award, Senator Joe Lieberman, and the Business-Government Relations Award, Josephine Cooper, on March 21, 2012.

Feb. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- The Bryce Harlow Foundation will honor Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) on Wednesday, March 21, for his significant contributions to the advancement of the business-government relationship at the 31st Annual Bryce Harlow Awards Dinner at the Capital Hilton in Washington. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will introduce Lieberman and present him with the Bryce Harlow Award.

The Foundation will also present its Business-Government Relations Award to Josephine Cooper, a consummate government relations professional who represented the auto and the forest-and-paper industries, and now runs her own consulting firm. Cooper will receive the award for her contributions to the advocacy profession through a lifelong career as an exemplary role model, bringing government and the private sector together. Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) will introduce her and present the award.

By fostering understanding, trust, respect and cooperation between the business and government sectors, Senator Lieberman has helped the country as a whole and has made significant contributions to the development of sound public policy. Senator Lieberman said: “Whatever the partisan or policy differences that divide us, they are much less important than the shared values and dreams that unite us and that require us to work together to make progress for all. To me, that is what public service and leadership is all about.”

In addition to honoring the award recipients, the dinner also raises funds for the Bryce Harlow Fellowship program, a prestigious scholarship for graduate students pursuing a career in government relations and lobbying.
