Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. Announces Election of 2012 Board of Directors

Feb. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is pleased to announce the election of officers, effective January 25, 2012. The new Board of Directors for 2012 are President and Chairman of the Board Donald (Don) Dwiel, Vice President and Technology Officer Nigel Fairbank, Past President Robert (Bob) Nicholson, Secretary Joan Houston, Treasurer Joan Bartlett, Assistant Treasurer Bobbie Gilbert, Information Officer Carol Steensen, Transportation Officer Peter Norrman, Public Relations Officer Sara Peterson, Website Officer Janice Bartner,  Directors at Large Irene Smith-Childs, Mark Ring, and Lynn Hippensteel. The all volunteer board brings experience, leadership and commitment to guide the efforts of the organization.  

President Don Dwiel, EMBA and retired CPA , is an active volunteer with Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc, and has delivered Meals on Wheels since 1998.  Don has served as Vice president and Treasurer, and has performed duties of the President since October 2011.  Don, who is a native of the Chicago area, had a successful career in finance serving a major corporation in North Carolina. Don and his wife have resided in Florida for the past 22 years.

President Don Dwiel reports "Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. has a dedicated team of volunteers which ensure the timely and friendly distribution and delivery of meals, and an efficient supporting office operation. Our office staff, Transportation Officer, route directors and drivers do a fantastic job, day in and day out.  We will recruit, screen and train our volunteers for the position of their choice. The organization will promote its services, and emphasize the need for continued community donations, to help defray operating costs. In the present economic climate, these are not small challenges.  I am confident that Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is positioned, better than ever, to succeed in its endeavors, and meet the growing demand for Meals on Wheels services that the Greater Venice FL area has depended upon since 1969."

Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is a fiscally responsible, 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization in their 43nd year of operation that provides a community service to deliver nutritious, low cost meals to anyone in the Greater Venice, FL area unable to prepare a meal due to mental or physical disability, regardless of age or financial situation, 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year, holidays included. The organization presently delivers an average of 165 meals a day, with the help of about 200 volunteers, each providing a few hours of their time each week
