Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- February 1, 2012-They say beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. All who knew 10 year old Trinity Farris agree that she embraced the beauty within. With Trinity’s passing on December 3, 2011, The Hope for Trinity Foundation propelled into high gear to fulfill the mission to raise monetary contributions for families who incur financial hardship and medical expenses for their children's medical treatments.

Trinity’s story:

Trinity Farris was literally fighting for her life every single day. She was diagnosed with Cartilage-Hair Hypoplasia Syndrome. Cartilage-Hair Hypoplasia Syndrome is a disorder of bone growth characterized by short stature (dwarfism) with other skeletal abnormality that also include abnormal immune system function (immune deficiency), which can lead to recurrent infections. Trinity suffered from congenital immunodeficiency compounded by bone marrow failure/autoimmunity causing hematologic abnormality. Additional diagnoses includes Immune-Mediated Neutropenia, Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia, and Bronchiolitis Obliterans, a very rare lung disease. While other children her age were playing sports, going to birthday parties, swimming, or even camping, Trinity was practically closed off to the world. Her daily activities were determined by how high or low her blood count was. Most would have been discouraged, but not Trinity. With such a pure heart, Trinity wanted to give back and help other families in the same predicament. Through her experiences, Trinity felt she could help ease the fears and struggles of other children in her situation. The Hope for Trinity Foundation pledges to carry out Trinity’s vision by helping families in need.

The Beauty Within:

The theme of the fundraiser is “The Beauty Within” in honor of Trinity Farris. So many lives were touched by this courageous 10 year old who found compassion in her heart for others even while battling her own diseases. The Hope for Trinity Foundation fundraiser will take place on Saturday, March 17th from 5:00-9:00pm at the A&G Artistry Development in Portland, Oregon. Located at 1319 SE Martin Luther King Blvd. The Hope for Trinity Foundation will be pulling out the purple carpet to welcome guests to this elegant affair. Upscale attire will be mandatory as some of Portland’s influential business owners and supporters will be welcomed. We have invited Trinity’s mother, Susan Farris, to speak on some of the hardships that were faced during the ten year struggle Trinity had fighting her illnesses. Other guest speakers for the night include Doernbecher Children's Hospital’s nurses and doctors who worked closely with Trinity and Teressa Raiford who is running for a seat on the Portland City Council. Afterwards, there will be a presentation to cover the importance of this fundraiser and will allow people a chance to step into the lives of families who have to deal with financial struggles while trying to make it through the day. The MC for the evening will be Portland’s own Amanda Monique. There will be major media outlets to capture this event for the Portland area. Food will be catered by The Art Institute of Portland. Muzzeluna Fine Catering will present the Farris family with a special surprise in honor of Trinity. There will be giveaways for those in attendance plus a Silent Auction for items from Venus Allure Salon and Spa, Nia International Headquarters, Classy Hair Salon, Icon Hair Salon, Pink Rose Restaurant, and Volero Hair Salon. Paul Mitchell will then sponsor a hair chop-off segment. Hair from this segment will be donated to The Hope for Trinity Foundation by way of Kymra Hamblin, a hair stylist who will be making wigs specifically to be donated for children who have lost their hair do to disease or treatment. These wigs value anywhere from $125-$375. Also Stephen Vincent Jewelers will be attendance as one of our Sponsors. There will be live performances by Parfait and sounds by DJ Cowboy. Finally, Darrell Roach of Darrell Roach Designs will make a presentation of The Hope for Trinity pendant.
