Are Vocational Course's Valuable?

‘Yes!’ Comments Christine Brown of Christine Brown & Associates, ‘in my opinion vocational training is valuable and very worthwhile, but only when it’s incorporated as part of work based training, or a structured Apprenticeship program’.

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Professor Wolf (an expert in education and skills), believes the status of vocational education has been downgraded, and Colleges have been enticed to offer short vocational courses of little value due to funding arrangements and league tables.

‘Any good, work based training provider will tell you that vocational training is only effective in real work situations, and is only of value to employers and young people alike if it leads to sustainable work’ Says Christine. ‘The review commissioned by minister’s recommends a radical shake-up of vocational education in England, and say’s all pupils should study a core of academic subjects until they are 16.’

It calls for changes to the school league tables, and some vocational qualifications will no longer be counted.  At the moment, some vocational qualifications count for the equivalent of four GCSEs.

At Christine Brown & Associates, we have specialist work based learning including higher level qualifications (such as Management Level 5 & 7) and Vocational training options available to our clients and their staff, including young apprentices.
