Upright Health helps massage therapists with a few postural tricks

Upright Health's posture alignment specialists will be hosting its second Postural Pain for Massage Therapists class in an effort to help San Diego's massage therapists better understand how to help their clients with stubborn aches and pains.

Jan. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Sore shoulders, aching necks, tight hips -- you name it, massage therapists see it. But for many massage therapists and their clients, the standard approaches can be quite frustrating.

For many, massages only supply short term relief, and sometimes massages can make problems worse.

"I've had clients come to Upright Health who complained about their shoulders or backs getting worse because of what a massage therapist did," says Matt Hsu, Upright Health's founder.  "It's not because the massage therapist was bad or ill-intentioned; it's that he or she didn't know how important posture is to the chronic pain equation. We want massage therapists to have this information."

Postural Pain for Massage Therapists is a free 2 hour seminar designed for local massage therapists to introduce them to the ideas that have made Upright Health sought after internationally and one of San Diego's highest rated pain relief providers.

Upright Health specializes in solving musculoskeletal pain by approaching the body with a view towards full-body muscle balance, according to Maryann Berry, Upright Health's other posture alignment specialist.  "It's not about where someone feels pain. It's about finding the cause of the pain, wherever it is. And it's usually not right where the pain is felt."

"By showing massage therapists how to think about common pain issues, we hope they'll be able to better help their own clients," says Hsu.  "I spent a lot of money trying to solve my own chronic pain by seeing every chiropractor, massage therapist, and doctor under the sun, and if I can help others avoid the frustration of going around through that search, I will!"

With a focus on straightforward assessments and the introduction of useful exercise-based interventions, the 2 hour seminar is a crash course in understanding a new and potentially useful perspective on chronic pain for massage therapists.

The next Postural Pain for Massage Therapists is scheduled for Thursday February 16, 2012 at 6PM at the offices of Upright Health. Interested massage therapists can sign up online at Upright Health's website at http://uprighthealth.com
