McGladrey Receives Patriot Award for Support of National Guard and Reserve Members

Jan. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- DAVENPORT, IOWA – (January 30, 2012) – McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, which operates under the McGladrey brand as the nation's fifth largest assurance, tax and business consulting firm, was recently recognized with the Patriot Award (http://www.esgr.org/site/Programs/PatriotAward.aspx) by the Iowa Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

McGladrey tax associate Peter Pentland nominated the firm for the award after his recent deployment to Afghanistan. While Pentland was deployed before his official full-time employment date, the firm assured him that it would not impact the status of his employment agreement.

"After learning of my deployment, the managing partner at the Davenport location suggested that I begin working immediately so that I did not have to seek employment elsewhere before deploying," said Pentland. "The firm also paid the difference in my salaries between the military and McGladrey while I was on deployment."

"McGladrey has exemplified the merits which are deserving of the Patriot Award," continued Pentland. "The company has gone above and beyond the expectations of this civilian solider. Its employees, my coworkers, equally deserve recognition. They continually sent me emails and care packages letting me know that they were thinking about me."

The award was accepted by John Romano, a tax partner with McGladrey (http://www.mcgladrey.com).

Terry Dell, Iowa ESGR's area chair, said the ESGR Patriot Award was created to recognize individuals and employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation for their employees, who are citizen soldiers.
