East Carolina University social work student named NASW-NC 2012 Presidents’ Award recipient

The National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter has recognized MSW student Rafél Lane as the 2012 Presidents' Award recipient.

Jan. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC – Rafél Lane, an East Carolina University graduate student, has been awarded the 2012 Presidents’ Award from the National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter (NASW-NC).

The award recognizes the Master of Social Work (MSW) student of North Carolina who demonstrates exceptional leadership through professional and community involvement in social work.

Lane has worked with organizations such as Crisis and Assessment of Wake County and Rex Hospital of Raleigh, Pitt County Arts Council and is the President of the Chi Zeta Chapter of Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society at East Carolina University. He is also actively working with MSW colleagues and the Lucille Gorham Intergenerational Center of Greenville, NC to expand the “Grub Bus”, a mobile produce distribution program.

His academic achievements are represented by the Herman G. and Marian S. Moeller Fellowship from East Carolina University School of Social Work and the GlaxoSmithKline Opportunity Scholarship.

Lane will receive his award in March 1, 2012 at the NASW-NC Annual Ethics Conference and Awards Luncheon at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh.
