Jan. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Tempe, Ariz. (January 26, 2012) – Study abroad service provider CEA Global Education is excited to announce the launch of its two newest programs in Brazil:

     •   Brazil: Business, Culture & Language
     •   Cultural Studies & Volunteering in Brazil.

Applications for both programs are now being accepted for the Fall 2012 semester.

Students who apply will live and study in Florianópolis, Brazil – the capital city of Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, composed of beaches, mountains, a thriving metropolitan area and lingering historical influence from Portugal’s Azores’ colony.

“Due to its rich geographical, cultural and historical components, Brazil has become a destination of emerging market success and increasing interest among many study abroad students,” said President Marcie Schneider. “We want to bring this experience to our own students, while also providing for them new and interesting ways to engage in this increasingly popular and friendly culture.”

In addition to standard program offerings – cultural activities, excursions, community-based housing, etc. – CEA has partnered with four different volunteer organizations in Florianópolis to create multiple opportunities to help students achieve a deeper understanding of the community, the culture and the Portuguese language. The partner organizations include:

Casa Lar Emaus: Acting as a shelter for young adolescents, Casa Lar Emaus provides several living and health services for children who cannot rely on their own families for these necessities.

Fundação Vidal Ramos: Children from ages eight to eighteen in need of educational assistance and a place to go after the school day ends can find refuge in Fundação Vidal Ramos. In addition to tutoring, this organization schedules weekly group activities for its adolescent students to prevent them from encountering trouble on the streets.

COEPAD: A cooperative for workers with physical and mental disabilities, COEPAD manufactures notepads, folders and other recycled paper products using the generated revenue to improve work conditions and provide compensation for its members.

Saude Crianca Florianópolis: This NGO works to support underprivileged Florianópolis families who struggle due to hazardous health conditions and social risks.
