Smithereen, named for its main character, Carl Smithereen, Orlando’s number one News Reporter, delivers a refreshing alternative to the commonly stiff news cast. Carl Smithereen is well known for his willingness to do or say anything to keep his station’s number one rating, and his outlandish methods of news delivery break the boundaries of conventional news reporting. Touted the greatest reporter in all the world, Carl’s natural charm and unyielding confidence keep viewers tuned in, curious as to what he will do next. Unfortunately for Carl, the world is not altogether ready to accept his dramatic antics with open arms and he must learn to adapt to the world around him, or suffer the consequences. With his loyal team of reporters at his side, Smithereen promises to bring you all the news...all the time.

Creator and Director, David Simmons, plays the role of Carl Smithereen and proves that he is a man of many talents. Apart from creating, directing and starring in his first web series, Simmons also manages the editing, produces the original computer graphics and composes the special effects. He has also taken on the job of casting, which has brought the Smithereen family together.

The cast includes Simmons’ wife, Camille Mazal (Ariana Isabella Maria Del Carmen Flores Breastwater), Mike Feo (Bobby Gunt), Gemma Fearn (Julia Mann), Brett Waldon (Dodge Peckstone & Larry), Barbara Logan (Ruth Frankelsheim), Kenneth Van Valkenburg (Jack Havemyer), Joe Anacleto (Joe Faraday), Toni Jarosz (Jodi McGee), Tony Jarosz (Lothar Pieworthy) and Cassandra Logan (Kirkpatrick Fitzhume).

David Simmons is an Orlando native who, after graduating from the University of Florida, moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 1997. After surviving the initial culture shock, he settled into the actor's life and was introduced to Alex Albrecht of current Diggnation fame. Hitting it off as fast friends of humor, they went on to form The Misfit Toys Comedy Improv Troupe, which ran for three years. In 2004, David returned to Florida and continued his studies both in front of and behind the camera, the culmination of which has led to Smithereen, which he is now excited to present to you.
