Jan. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill, in response to an ever-increase number of customer requests, is expanding its line of books by adding to an already impressive selection that includes books of local interest, children’s classics, home and garden, fictional novels, and many historical and humorous selections that have been popular staples for years. “With the recent closing of all the Boston Borders bookstores, there has been a need in local neighborhoods to fill the void for those who value the convenience of a store in walking distance and still love the feel of a real book in their hands,” says Jennifer Hill co-owner of Blackstone’s.

This year marks’ the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park and the sinking of the Titanic and many new entries arrive almost daily on these subjects.  In addition, Blackstone’s plans to build upon customer requested categories such as biographies, mystery and suspense.  “Our love of books and our dedication to presenting interesting authors and the numerous book signings we have held over the past years are always well attended and proof that many residents still value the written word and the interesting people who pen them, say Mark Duffield, co-owner of Blackstone’s.

On February 7th Blackstone’s will co-host with the Hampshire House, local celebrity and author Ron Della Chiesa from WGBH whose new book, Radio My Way, has already been critically acclaimed by the local press.  Mr. Della Chiesa’s 50 years in radio reads like a who’s who in the history of music including encounters with the likes of Luciano Pavrotti, Placido Domingo, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra and hundreds more.  “Ron’s recollections of conversations and encounters with many of the great musicians of our time are priceless, timeless, and a great read.”  --Keith Lockhart, Conductor, The Boston Pops.  The event will take place in the Hampshire House Library starting at 6:30 pm and will be replete with local Beacon Hill jazz vocalist Lisa Macalaster who will be accompanied by pianist Henry Schniewind.

Duffield adds, “My father was an avid reader and would often quote The New England Primer and John Wilson ...’my book and heart shall never part, “and from Wilson...”Oh for a book and a shady nook, either in door or out.”   We at Blackstones are pleased our customers feel the same way and to the extent we can we will provide that shady nook.
