“We are honoured and proud to be able to provide aid for such a worthy cause,” said Aubrey Shayler, CEO of The Shayler Foundation. “It is important to us that we play an active role in helping to secure a woman’s basic human rights.”
The Shayler Foundation is a non-profit which helps women internationally realise their basic human rights. 100% of public donations directly fund its programmes and projects.
The complications leading to a maternal death can occur without warning at any time during pregnancy and childbirth. And for every woman who dies in impoverished circumstances, approximately 20 more suffer injuries, infection and disabilities. Most maternal deaths can be prevented if births are attended by skilled health personnel – doctors, nurses and midwives – who are regularly supervised and have the proper equipment and supplies.
