Follow on Google News | Students Announce the Log Home They Will Build at the 2012 Pennsylvania Home ShowStudents to build log home inside over five-day period at the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex.
By: NAHB Student Chapter at Cumberland-Perry AVTS “Building a substantial log home inside of the Farm Show complex is an annual highlight for the students, our program and Home Show visitors ," said Jody Snider, advisor to the NAHB Chapter at the Cumberland-Perry AVTS. "We plan and design the home for months and then gather donated materials and professional services to build a top-quality structure five days before the show. Parental and business community support for what we do is tremendous. A couple of hundred students contribute to the success of this project." KSM Log Homes of Mifflintown, Pa., has contributed the log home for the project. More than 30 businesses have already pledged support through contributions to this year’s house. Suppliers and contractors interested in supporting this project should contact Snider at 717-697-0354, ext. 128. At the end of the Home Show, the log home will be sold through sealed bids and the proceeds will go the NAHB Chapter at Cumberland-Perry AVTS. These funds support student awards, scholarships and participation in regional and national NAHB student competitions. The Cumberland-Perry AVTS Chapter of NAHB has 200 members and is one of only two student chapters in the United States with more than 100 members. It is the only chapter in the United States that annually designs, plans and builds a log home for an event like the Pennsylvania Home Show and then disassembles it so it can be reassembled on the property of whoever buys it at the end of the show. The 2012 house is the chapter's seventh home show house. End
