Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- You know Reed Timmer and Chris Chittick as Storm Chasers on Discovery Channel, but this duo is also big on giving back to charity so other people can chase their dreams. Timmer and Chittick were recently appointed as the honorary chairs of the Tennessee Cupid’s Chase 5K Run.

The Cupid’s Chase 5K Run is the largest, national, simultaneous 5K Run in the country held by any nonprofit organization. With 5K’s held in 25 cities across 10 states on the same day and same time, the Cupid’s Chase offers participants great prizes and giveaways, certified USATF courses and even the opportunity to make a love connection by choosing an “Available” or “Unavailable” shirt to wear.  And yes, there have been love connections made as a result of this event over the years.

The Cupid’s Chase 5K run is hosted by Community Options. Community Options, a national nonprofit organization with the mission to develop homes and employment for people with disabilities is preparing to host for its fourth year in a row, the Cupid’s Chase 5K Run.

"Being the Honorary Chair of the Cupid's Chase 5K Run for Tennessee is an extraordinary privilege and it is my pleasure to partner with Community Options as they further advance their mission of supporting people with disabilities, says Reed Timmer.

The Cupid’s Chase in Tennessee takes place in three locations, Nashville, Cookeville and Chattanooga.  All three of these locations have been supporting people with disabilities since the early nineties and their operations have grown substantially as a result of de-institutionalization efforts across the state.

“We are amazed at how fast this event has spread across the country and we are proud to call this event our organization’s headline charity event,” said Robert Stack, Founder, President and CEO of Community Options. “Having people like Reed and Chris partner with us adds extraordinary credibility and value to our organization and we are so grateful for their support,” he added.

The Storm Chasers are no strangers to giving back to charity and have done so on many occasions when they are filming or chasing tornados. “For me, it is important to give back to organizations like Community Options who are holding events like the Cupid's Chase 5K Run; being the Honorary Chair of the Tennessee Cupid's Chase 5K is very exciting and I am thrilled to be a part of it, says Chris Chittick.
