Follow on Google News | Stevens-Henager College Adds Four New Emphasis Areas to Its Nursing Administration ProgramStevens-Henager College has added four new emphasis areas to its Bachelor’s in Nursing Administration program. Registered nurses (RNs) enrolling for this program can now choose from the four emphases to advance their careers.
By: Scott.C The four new emphases that the college has added to its Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Administration degree are: 1. Clinical Nurse Educator Emphasis 2. Community Health Nurse Emphasis 3. Nurse Case Manager Emphasis 4. Nursing Informatics Emphasis The program, which is available to practicing registered nurses only, is designed to provide students the skills necessary for supervisory or leadership roles in a healthcare environment. By offering four different emphasis areas with its nursing administration degree, the college has opened the doors to exciting career possibilities for registered nurses. Each emphasis area is designed to prepare RNs for a different branch of nursing. The clinical nurse educator emphasis prepares graduates for the of role nurse educators in institutions of higher learning and in healthcare organizations as instructors and/or trainers responsible for the grooming and development of nursing students and staff. The community health nurse emphasis, on the other hand, trains RNs to work in the area of public health as promoters and providers of healthcare to diverse populations. As part of their program, graduates take courses such as Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Community and Family Health, Management and Administration of Health Programs, etc. to prepare for this responsibility. The third emphasis area offered with the nursing administration degree at Stevens-Henager College is in nurse case management. The focus of this program is to train graduates in managing and planning all aspects of patient care. Graduates of this program qualify for roles like acute care nurses, critical care nurses, clinical nurse specialists, etc. Finally, the emphasis in nursing informatics is structured around providing nurses the skills and knowledge they need to apply technological solutions for improving the healthcare system and its delivery to patients. Courses included in this program seek to train nurses in the use of informatics systems to collect, store, utilize, and maintain important data for effecting this improvement. This degree is available both online and on campus at Stevens-Henager College and can be completed over the course of 20 months. In addition to an RN license, the eligibility criteria for enrollment in this program include completion of a specific number of general education credit hours.
