1960s Photos of Jean Shrimpton on Vintage Seekers

Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Interest surrounding vintage fashion photography and sixties fashion icon Jean ‘The Shrimp’ Shrimpton is set to reach fever pitch this week as ‘We’ll take Manhattan’- starring Karen Gillan and Aneurin Barnard as Jean Shrimpton and David Bailey respectively- finally hits our screens. This much talked-of TV film focuses on the story of the four-year love affair between iconic fashion photographer David Bailey and his muse Jean Shrimpton, a relationship that changed the face of fashion photography forever. The release of We'll Take Manhattan ties in perfectly with Vintage Seekers’ recent acquisition of three rare vintage photography prints of Jean Shrimpton which are now available to purchase through the website.
Shot by Ronald Falloon, a talented but lesser-known contemporary of Shrimpton’s lover David Bailey, Vintage Seekers are proud to be able to present these three unique images for sale at £1,200 each. Two feature Shrimpton wearing a soft denim shirt- photographs intended to feature in The Telegraph’s first Sunday colour supplement but which never went to print in the end- and the third, in black and white, sees the model in a striking white dress by British designer Susan Small. Featured on the front page of The Telegraph, as well as having had coverage in Vogue and the Daily Mail, these images from Vintage Seekers would make a stunning addition to any vintage fashion photography collection.
What makes these photographs of Jean Shrimpton so unique is that, after initially being shot, they became almost forgotten about. The same goes for much of Falloon’s photography; not until an exhibition at Nolia's Gallery in London in 2007 and then at the Liberty department store in 2010 did the wider general public have access to his photographs.
