Jan. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- OAKLAND, Calif. - (January 20, 2012) – Solio, the decade-old leader in the hand-held battery packs and solar chargers category, brings its collection of chargers and lighting products to the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (ORWM) tradeshow (booth 13303) this January 19-22. The brand proudly announces its chargers compatibility with several new products showcased for the first time at this year’s ORWM. Solio will exhibit in Liberty Mountain’s booth #13303.

Solio’s new BOLT, a powerhouse solar charger that marked the brand’s move away from auxiliary tips and adapters, works exclusively from the charging-device’s native USB cord. With an on-board battery and rotating solar panels, the Solio BOLT charges thousands of popular USB powered gadgets like the newest headlamp from Princeton Tec (booth 16001), the leading lighting brand for outdoor adventurers.

Princeton Tec will unveil its new Apex Rechargeable headlamp, a convenient, greener solution for those tired of carting excess AAs and AAAs into the backcountry. Solio’s new BOLT solar charger is a great way to make sure the Apex’s light stays on, even miles away from the nearest outlet.

The Apex Rechargeable Headlamp, scheduled for a spring 2012 release, weighs in at a very packable 283 grams and charges from USB. It features an all-white LED 200 lumens light that will run for up to 90 hours on a single charge on its low setting, or 5 hours on high. For extended treks away from power sources the Solio BOLT makes a great option for a simple, green battery backup. The BOLT, which can be charged in one full day’s exposure to the sun, connects directly to the Apex’s USB port for fast, easy, on-the-go charging.

After dark the BOLT’s battery can be recharged via its micro-USB port. From USB power, the battery charges in 4.5 hours. The BOLT uses a high temperature rated lithium ion-polymer battery. Unlike other battery chemistries, lithium-poly works perfectly for the high-heat of solar charging and Solio’s 60C specification means the heat of the sun never interrupts efficient solar charging. When the useful life of the rechargeable battery is over, the Solio BOLT battery is user-replaceable with just a few turns of a screwdriver.

The Solio Bolt ($70) is distributed by Liberty Mountain and available now at Sprint, Amazon, and REI stores in the United States and Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada. The BOLT is also available at www.solio.com.
