Sunrise Aviation is proud to announce the graduation of the first two students who completed their FAA approved Private Pilot Certification Courses at Florida State College in Jacksonville.  Michael Martin completed his Practical Test and received the private pilot certificate on Friday, January 13th.  Seth Van Buren received his private pilot certificate on January 16th.  Both students had accomplished their first solos only one day apart at the end of October last year.

Both Martin and Van Buren are enrolled in aviation programs at FSCJ.  Martin is working towards becoming an Air Traffic Controller.  Van Buren is enrolled in the two- year FSCJ Associate of Science in Professional Pilot Technology degree program.  Martin and Van Buren are both using their Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill veteran benefits to help fund the education in their new careers.  State colleges like FSCJ offer an exceptional value for both veterans and non-veterans alike.  The low in-state tuition rates are especially attractive for Florida residents and many scholarships and grant programs are available.  Veterans can usually get the best value for their GI Bill pilot training benefits at a state college.

Florida State College at Jacksonville has had aviation programs at Cecil Airport in Jacksonville for over 10 years.  Sunrise Aviation has been the flight training vendor for FSCJ since September 2011.  Over 40 students are now enrolled in FSCJ pilot training courses at Sunrise Aviation’s Jacksonville satellite.  Sunrise Aviation is now expanding its fleet at Cecil Airport due to the increased demand.  Currently the following aircraft models are available for students at Cecil Airport:  Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, and Piper Seminole.  Sunrise Aviation has over 40 aircraft at its main base in Ormond Beach, Florida.
