fluid Operations Releases eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1

fluid Operations, the leading provider of cloud and data management solutions based on semantic technologies, announced today the release of a new version of its eCloudManager Product Suite – eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1.

Jan. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Walldorf - With version 4.1, the eCloudManager Product Suite was enhanced to offer support for the latest VMware and NetApp firmware versions and to deliver increased flexibility for service offerings and service deployments. “We are committed to keeping our products up to date with the latest technology available on the market, and we strive to bring in our own innovative technologies in order to deliver better solutions for our customers. eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1 delivers this exact combination”, said Sebastian Schmidt, eCloudManager Lead Architect at fluid Operations.

Support for VMware vSphere 5 and NetApp ONTAP 8.1

As part of the new product release, VMware vSphere 5 has been added to the eCloudManager hypervisor support matrix. Released in July 2011, VMware vSphere 5 delivers better application performance and availability for all business-critical applications. Through the addition of vSphere 5 to the eCloudManager integration portfolio, customers will benefit from the increased availability, flexibility and performance of VMware vSphere 5.

The eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1 also delivers beta support for NetApp ONTAP 8.1. Released in September 2011, NetApp ONTAP 8.1 features enhanced non-stop operations, scale-out SAN, storage efficiency, replication, and enhanced multi-tenancy. Through the integration with the latest ONTAP version, the eCloudManager Product Suite now supports immediate availability cloning. This means that the systems deployed on NetApp storage using the eCloudManager are available within milliseconds after the cloning job has been completed. Combined with eCloudManager’s Landscape as a Service (LaaS)™ capabilities, this allows the instant availability of multi-tiered enterprise applications landscapes provisioned with the eCloudManager.

Increased Service Deployment Flexibility

Another key feature of the eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1 is its support for all available cloning methods – i.e. hypervisor cloning, Linked-Disk cloning, LUN-cloning, and storage file-based cloning. Each cloning method can be associated with certain Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Therefore, when the end user decides to clone a system or landscape, all they need to do is select the desired SLAs, and the eCloudManager will automatically trigger the appropriate cloning method. This abstracts all technical details from the end user and delivers significantly increased flexibility in the definition and deployment of services.

Advanced Service Offerings

The new eCloudManager Product Suite version also delivers advanced service offerings for end users. Not only can a user deploy new systems or complex landscapes on-demand based on the desired SLAs, but with the 4.1 release they can also easily and rapidly extend their services. This means that end users can adjust existing systems which no longer meet their requirements by extending CPU, memory or disk allocation. Moreover, end users can also extend their deployed landscapes and add new systems to a landscape on-demand. All these tasks are available directly through the self-service portal and are tracked by the eCloudManager and billed accordingly using the fully customizable cost calculation formula.

eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1 Availability

The eCloudManager Product Suite 4.1 is immediately available for purchase directly through fluid Operations, through EMC Select, or through our channel partners.
