The itinerary begins on Friday, where guests arrive in Vatican City for a Prestige tour visiting: the Vatican Museum, a treasure trove of ancient Greek sculptures, medieval tapestries and Renaissance paintings; the Sistine Chapel, home to Michelangelo’
s famed fresco ceiling; and St. Peter’s Basilica to view the premier masterpieces of Italian art history in the world’s largest Roman Catholic Church. On Saturday, guests embark on a monumental tour of the most important sites in Rome. After Via Veneto, famous for Fellini's movie "La Dolce Vita", and Piazza della Repubblica with the Naja-di's Fountain, guests will tour through the historical center visiting the picturesque Trevi Fountain till Piazza Navona, Piazza Colonna with the Column of Marcus Aurelius, the Pantheon, and the Vatican.
Accompanied by an expert local guide, participants head out for a full day excursion to Naples and Pompeii on Sunday. En route to Naples guests admire the Abbey of Montecassino, completely rebuilt after the total destruction in World War II. Here, guests will have the opportunity to visit an ancient cameos and coral factory in Torre del Greco. Upon arrival in Pompeii, guests enjoy lunch and visit the excavations of this ancient UNESCO World Heritage Site. The following day, guests will have a full day at leisure to shop, dine and explore the Eternal city. On Tuesday, guests will enjoy a full day excursion to Florence taking in the panoramic views of Piazzale Michelangelo and the famous Ponte Vecchio. After lunch, guests will take a guided walking tour visiting Santa Croce Square, the Museum of Accademia with the famous Statue of David by Michelangelo, Piazza della Signoria, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and the Baptistry and Giotto's Belltower.
