Elephant Insurance honored as the 2011 Henrico Business of the Year

Jan. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- In 2009, Elephant Insurance (a car insurance company) established its headquarters in the western Henrico County with 5 employees and today employs over 125. Elephant set up systems, planned policies and procedures, and is now selling automobile insurance coverage in four states. They are focused in bringing vehicle insurance business to Virginia as well as sustainability and continuous improvement in both their work environment and customer service.

One of Elephant's favorite sayings is that they are a casual work environment that does not work casually.  Unlike the typical pre-conceived idea of auto insurance companies, everyone at Elephant, even the CEO, sits in identical, low-walled cubicles. While this facilitates collaboration, it is also a reminder that everyone is equally important to the success of the company. "Herd members" also take initiative in building their company. Employees are tasked with creating, best practices, effective processes and training programs and have formalized programs for leadership development to help support internal growth. They are proud to share that 26% of their staff have taken on formal promotions.
