Veterans Howard Rosen and John Cannon Join Lee NYC
The addition of the two brokers gives the Manhattan office a strong footing in the NY and national office markets
Rosen and Cannon join Lee NYC as Vice Chairmen and represent more than five million square feet of office space with a value of more than $4 billion nationally and a list of specializations that include: lease negotiations, strategic planning, and complex deal structuring for the financial services, media/publishing, technology, legal, retail, healthcare, and government sectors.
“In establishing the Lee NYC office we recognized that our greatest challenge would be recruiting exceptional brokers who would embrace the Lee business model that emphasizes ownership and collaboration. Hiring two brokers with the breadth of experience and excellent reputations of Howard and John have given Lee NYC instant credibility in the NYC market. It’s a privilege to have these two gentlemen join our team as their wealth of experience in the office market will help shape our strategy while we further establish our presence in New York City,” said James Wacht, president of Lee NYC.
At the time of his leaving Grubb & Ellis, where he spent a total of 25 years, Rosen was regional managing director for the firm’s Midtown Manhattan office and Cannon, who had been at G&E for 10 years, was executive managing director. Both Rosen and Cannon will be vice chairman of Lee and will be spearheading the office leasing program at Lee NYC.
Rosen and Cannon have been partners since 1997, when they were both principals at RAK Group, LLC. Both are currently members of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Plaza Committee and Building Agents Committee.
“We are excited to be joining Lee New York because the culture and the business model here is very unique,” said Rosen. “Howard and I both value the Lee platform that is national in scope, full-service, spans industries and is based on a culture where brokers work together.”
Cannon continued: “At Lee New York, we define our approach as managed real estate, which involves forging long-term relationships with our clients, who really enjoy the full-service, personalized attention.”
On November 1, Sierra Realty Corp., one of New York City’s prominent full-service brokerage firms, partnered with Lee & Associates to become Lee & Associates NYC LLC. With this union, the firm joined a national roster of 700 brokers throughout the U.S. including offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta. In addition to Wacht, Managing Principal Peter Braus and Chief Operating Officer and Head of Broker Recruitment Joel Herskowitz, Rosen and Cannon will join 14 other brokers in the Manhattan office.
“The addition of Howard and John not only brings a tremendous arsenal to Lee NYC but it provides an important presence to our East Coast and national outreach. This is a big step in establishing and expanding our identity in New York and beyond,” said Ed Indvik, CEO of Lee & Associates.
