Shadowfax Digital will target small and medium-sized businesses in the Philadelphia region and beyond, providing a suite of website creation services as well as brand identity and social media marketing.
The new company, founded by owner and principal Chris Sciolla, will bring a well-rounded approach to giving clients a broad and lively web presence, starting with their primary website, but then extending into a variety of other spaces throughout the web—touching on social media offerings, copywriting services as well as brand identity programs.
"Every client that asked me to build them a website would then ask 'can you do logo design?' and 'what do you know about Facebook and Twitter?'" said Sciolla. "It got to the point where in order to serve these clients and their many web-related needs, I had to rebrand and expand my offerings."
Based in Moorestown, New Jersey, Shadowfax Digital puts special emphasis on local businesses, ranging from as small as the corner deli to as large as fifty-office mortgage companies.
"I've always respected entrepreneurs and like to think I have a good sense of understanding their needs. So I try to structure my services to deliver the highest value to those clients, but staying inside a reasonable budget."
With Shadowfax, Sciolla has brought most services in-house, including design functions and copywriting. "We have a staff writer that handles all copy creation, both for the web and for print media or direct mail. And we've grown a really strong network of designers with a versatile range of styles."
While the local approach has gained Sciolla footing, he's already landed some noteworthy clients around the country, including the Hunter S. Thompson memorial group The Gonzo Foundation, and Temple University's Center for Design & Innovation.
Sciolla's expertise is in the WordPress publishing platform. This popular theme-driven architecture allows for high levels of customization, while letting the end-user administer the account and do updates on their own.
"Some clients take that hands-on, 'I can do it myself' approach, and that's fine—we like to give the customer as much control as he or she wants," said Sciolla. "But if they prefer to turn everything over to us, we have an all-inclusive service for that as well."
