NJCTS opens registration for annual Camp Bernie family retreat weekend

Jan. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders’ (NJCTS) annual Camp Bernie retreat weekend has been a source of fun, inspiration, learning and encouragement to individuals with TS and their families for years.

NJCTS has announced it will be returning to the popular Hunterdon County retreat facility in 2012 for the weekend of June 8-10. Registration is now open for this exciting event, and the proper form is available by visiting www.njcts.org/2012-camp-bernie.

On the form, which must be submitted by no later than May 11, there also are opportunities to volunteer for running/supervising activities such as volleyball games and treasure hunts, as well as mentoring and sharing experiences with the campers.

Also now available on NJCTS' website are opportunities to apply for the 2012 NJCTS Children’s Scholarship and nominate the 2012 Educator and Healthcare Provider of the Year.

Each year, NJCTS awards scholarships to graduating New Jersey high school seniors with Tourette Syndrome. This year's submission deadline is April 5, and all applicants must complete an application – available by visiting www.njcts.org/2012-awards – and meet the following criteria: be a New Jersey citizen, be planning to attend a college or trade school on a part- or full-time basis, provide a record of high school grades to date and submit an essay of 1-2 pages describing how TS has played a part in the applicant's life.

The Educator and Healthcare Provider of the Year awards were established to recognize a healthcare professional and an educator in New Jersey who has made a significant difference in the life of a child with Tourette.
