Fox News & New York Times Reporters to make appearance at local JCC

Jan. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- MEET THE AUTHOR JEWISH BOOK SERIES presented by the Rabbi Norman Mussman Cultural Arts Department of the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center located on the Sanford L. Ziff Campus, 18900 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach, with the support of participating organizations, will continue its next chapter in their Jewish Book Series Presentations with “This Burning Land. Lessons from the Front Lines of the Transformed Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.”

Greg Myre and Jennifer Griffin, husband and wife journalists arrived in Jerusalem in 1999 and began a family there, just as the Palestinian uprising erupted. They found themselves raising two young daughters while covering the worst fighting ever between Israelis and Palestinians.

Greg Myre, a New York Times Reporter, and his wife, Jennifer Griffin, a Fox News Correspondent, will bring riveting accounts of how the conflict has changed over the past decade, with the pivotal events that took place, and thinking that motivates some Palestinians to be suicide bombers, and others to work as informants for Israel’s security forces.

The couple will present their book at the MAR-JCC’s “Meet The Author Jewish Book Series” on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30pm, as they address a fundamental paradox, that Israel is stronger than ever, has a vibrant society, a thriving economy and powerful military, yet it cannot find a way to end the feud with the Palestinians. This program is sponsored by Temple Beth Torah, Benny Rok Campus.

According to the Series Coordinator, David Surowitz, “Presenting this series broadens the scope of literary programming offered in our community and also serves as a catalyst for encouraging the reading, writing, and publishing of books of Jewish interest.”  Serving on the “Meet the Author” Jewish Book Series Committee are Beth Albert, Diani Azout, Dr. Abraham and Shulamit Gittelson, Sara Kerpel, and Myriam Wolf.  The Series is made possible through the Steven J. IRIS KRASNOW, author of “THE SECRET LIVES OF WIVES – Women Share What It Really Takes To Stay Married,” on Thursday, March 15, at 1 pm. This well be held at Temple Sinai (in North Miami Beach, which is sponsoring the program.)
