The Imitated Life picks the ten best of 2011 in movies, albums, books and stage productions

Arts website The Imitated Life rates 10 best of 2011 in music, stage, screen, literature

Jan. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- (LOS ANGELES) – Embracing the notion that many heads are better than one, arts website The Imitated Life (www.theimitatedlife.net) draws on contributors across the nation to review and recommend the very best which filmmakers, theaters, authors and musicians have to offer. In that same spirit, The Imitated Life today issues its Best of 2011 to showcase the very finest offerings in the arts during the past year. Focusing on movies, albums, books, and stage productions, the site’s “Top 10” lists feature the opinions of arts aficionados from coast to coast. As with all such lists, let the debate begin…
“Incredible, amazing artistic expression is happening in every corner of America,” states Jim Melone, founder of The Imitated Life. “We want people to know about what’s happening, wherever it may be. Our 2011 ‘Best Of’ lists are a way to make that happen. The greatest thing  is, unlike most Top 10 lists out there, ours is not just one person’s opinion. The lists represent a whole range of input from people in many different places.”
With a remarkable variety of artists and genres, the “Best of 2011” represents the amazing diversity of the arts and letters in America – from Sondheim to the creators of “South Park”, Adele to Ives, Vanessa Diffenbaugh to David McCullough, and much, much more. Some of the titles will be familiar to audiences; others will offer an opportunity to discover eye-opening new works.
In either case, readers are encouraged to join a discussion on the selections and to submit reviews of their own. States The Imitated Life president Jon Meyers, “Our philosophy is that the more people contribute to the site, the more exposure the arts will get. That means growing audiences, growing appreciation, growing support – and ever-growing creativity on the part of artists. When the arts flourish, that’s good news for everyone.”
